This is my space to write about anything and everything going on in my life: my plots, schemes, commentary, complaints, daydreams, goals, and occasional witticisms. Yes, it’s annoyingly self-involved, but that’s what blogs are. I’m a big believer in the power of writing as a tool of discovery, and I am still trying to learn what I can about myself and the world around me. I am also a big believer in posting photographs of my cute dog, so there’s that, too.
I spent my graduate school years in Eugene, Oregon, which I miss dearly every day. I currently live in Auburn, Alabama, where I teach college English. After over
three five years here, I have finally adjusted to the hot, humid weather and the sad lack of snow, and have even become a fan of college football. Life is full of surprises.
I’m a runner (and occasional triathlete), a vegetarian (mostly a vegan), and an amateur photographer. You can expect to read quite a bit about my sporting and cooking endeavors and see plenty of pictures here. I also like to write about whichever movies, TV shows, books, and music are currently captivating me and to wax on about life as I’m living it. Here are some of my favorite posts I’ve written since starting this blog, and all of my photos on flickr.
My favorite things include: coffee; whiskey; postmodern fiction; baking bread; detective stories; light drizzly rain; French fries; rocky coastlines; winter; the soft, warm ears and sad eyes of a hound dog; going to bed early to read; and getting up early to run before the world wakes up.
